Waverley Park Physiotherapist Jordan Coleman spent last weekend as the attending match day physio/trainer assisting the Waverley Park Hawks host the South Metro Junior Football League (SMJFL) Under 12 football finals at Columbia Reserve.
Covering 5 games, Jordan reported it was an exciting day of local community junior footy, fortunately with very few injuries. Jordan’s role as match day physio was to liaise with the trainers and coaches of all teams and aid with injury management and first aid as needed.
Said Jordan, “At all levels of sport, immediate diagnosis and initial injury management is an essential part of treatment and can make a significant different in healing time and return to sport. It is also very important, particularly at Junior level, to be able to assess major injuries, such as concussion and head clashes, before allowing players to continue with the game in progress.
Waverley Park Physiotherapy Centre provides support to numerous local community clubs and athletes in the prevention, treatment and management of injury. If your team need assistance with their health and well-being please contact us on(03) 9795 0668.
And our best wishes to the Waverley Park Hawks Under 14’s (Brown) in their Preliminary Final this weekend, and to the Under 16’s Girls for making the Grand Final with a stirring semi-final win last weekend – GO HAWKS!
